General Summary- Primary Functions

The primary purpose of this role is to assist leadership to guide and oversee an A+FCU branch. Using influential leadership techniques, the Assistant Branch Manager will engage in consistent support and mentorship to achieve excellence in member service and team member satisfaction. They will assist in leading their team to achieve branch goals by ensuring team members utilize high-quality consultative conversations to uncover member needs, participate in business development activities to deepen Select Employer Group (SEG) relationships, and engage in community involvement initiatives to support the underserved.

Team Management

  • Assist the Branch Manager with overseeing the daily operations of a branch team, including onboarding, coaching, training, hiring, and conducting evaluations; recommending promotions, corrective actions and/or terminations.
  • In partnership with the Branch Manager:
    • Establish and review performance standards to evaluate team performance.
    • Support the career and skill development of employees through consistent coaching, professional development, and purposeful career pathing to compliment employees’ goals and identified objectives.
    • Provide team member oversight and coaching to achieve excellence in member consultation, service-level standards, business development, and operations.
    • Routinely conduct meetings (both group and one-on-one meetings) with team members to provide coaching, direction, and feedback.
    • Manage employee time off requirements and requests.
  • Serve as an expert for team members on A+FCU products and services, providing education and resources to enhance knowledge.
  • Oversee branch timekeeping.

Community and Business Development

  • In partnership with the Branch Manager:
    • Partner with assigned Business Development Officer to design and implement SEG/community growth strategies, goals, and prospect new relationships.
    • Participate (and ensure team member participation) in local Chambers of Commerce, community events, and SEG partner relationships.
    • Attend local events to support Business Development and Community initiatives.
    • Uphold and coach to A+FCU standards, brand, and reputation, adhering to established business development guidelines, performance standards, brand recognition, and overall professional expectations.

Operations Management

  • Provide support to team members by assisting with member transactions and account requests as needed.
  • Engage in member de-escalation when needed, serving as a resource to team members for complex situations.
  • Provide operational oversight and assistance for funds availability, including supervisor overrides and check approvals.
  • Adhere to A+FCU policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Oversee and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual branch audits.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all reports.
  • Partner with appropriate departments to oversee the safety, appearance, and functionality of the branch (including, but not limited to, building, grounds, and equipment).
  • Identify operational inefficiencies/opportunities to improve the member and team member experience.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners as needed.

Strategic Vision and Implementation

  • Partner with Retail senior leadership to create, maintain, and implement respective branch strategic vision that includes goals and strategies to support organizational objectives.
  • Communicate branch strategic vision to team members to ensure alignment to achieve objectives.
  • Seek improvements and make recommendations to enhance the branch’s strategic vision as needed.

Miscellaneous

  • Enhance professional and technical skills by attending seminars and classes; subscribe to technical and industry related journals and publications.
  • Serve as a Project Leader or Project Team Member on departmental projects/initiatives as needed.
  • Assist with special assignments as needed.
  • Provide assistance to other branch locations as needed.
  • Maintain member confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Four years financial institution experience required.
  • Two years management experience required.
  • Two years retail sales/service experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possess a high emotional IQ and strong inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), that reflect a professional, positive business approach.
  • Strong knowledge of bank/credit union policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement strategies to meet goals set by organization.
  • Proven ability to manage community and business development relationships, including prospecting, relationship management, and market penetration.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to self-manage to meet deadlines amongst competing priorities.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite products and proven usage (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Calendar).
  • Must have the ability to travel between branch locations (as assigned).

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability/stamina to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Will frequently reach, lift, bend, carry, and finely manipulate/key-in data.
  • Must be able to engage in problem-solving skills to help identify and resolve member issues.
